Hurrah! My feet have been saved from the ravages of summer footwear

I bought a pair of sandals earlier this summer that I only appear able to wear with socks. While the look is de rigueur at the moment, one doesn’t always want to bust it out—at a wedding, say—just to avoid blisters from too-stiff leather or backs that rub. After a Sunday of limping in said sandals, I was happy to find a can of Flexitol’s Blistop ($10, at Zellers) on my desk this morning. I immediately whipped off my shoes (and coral socks) and gave the tops of my toes a few spritzes of the spray, which dries perfectly clear. (There is a slight sheen, but it’s not noticeable.)

Verdict:

The Blistop prevents friction between your shoes and feet—a typical cause of blisters—and I can report that I’ve had not a bit of pain from my shoes today. Hoo. Ray. The can is clutch-bag tiny and the spray, once dried, is supposed to be water-resistant. Tonight’s project: Digging up formerly-painful footwear options to work back into my wardrobe.
