Blazers for Anything but the Boardroom: Our Style Panel’s Tips for How To Style a Blazer

A wardrobe basic that makes our must-have list season after season is the blazer. The tried and true staple is constantly being reinvented and repurposed in different colours and fabrics but remains a go-to for office attire. While workwear may be where we usually see a tailored jacket, we’re mixing things up and wearing our blazers anywhere but the office. Mix and matched with a contrasting skirt or worn with a bold print, there’s a reason this piece has stuck around.

Challenge #177: How to style a blazer for anything but the office?

I love the smart and structured look that a blazer offers. While I don’t have to dress formal for the office I like to mix a blazer with denim or a casual dress to elevate my look and take it from day to evening.

The blazer is one of the most versatile items , it’s the perfect addition to any outfit outfit to make it more pulled together. One of my favourite ways to wear a blazer is to style it without anything underneath. The unexpected deep v takes the look into evening territory.

Liat is wearing: Blazer, BCBG; Skirt, Club Monaco; Clutc,: Zara; Boots, Aldo; Necklace and ring, Topaz Jewelry.

Blazers have gotten a bad wrap for being known as a ‘just for work’ piece of clothing. But I completely disagree! They are a great layering piece that can be worn when you need that extra bit of warmth or when you want to look pulled together easily. I love wearing blazers on the weekend with a great striped dress. It’s the perfect blend of casual and slightly elevated.

Conni is wearing: Jacket and Bag, J.Crew; Dress, Shopbop; Shoes, Freda Salvador.
