Krystin Tysire, 22 Vancouver | Girl in Betsey

Soon after trying the slip dress trend, I was hooked. In the summer, I would pair it with a simple tee but in cooler weather I’m adding a long sleeve layer for extra warmth.

Don’t rule out your summer slip dress just yet because with a quick addition of tights and a turtleneck, you can take this delicate piece well into the heart of winter. Play around with layering it over skinny jeans and tucking it in for a completely different look.

Normally I like to “undress” the slip dress with more casual accessories like sneakers or a cool bomber jacket. Here, I’m styling it in a more formal way with velvet and pearl sandals and an oversized white shirt for some unexpected drama.

The slip dress has been in the spotlight for several seasons. Whether you are pairing it with a chunky sweater, a t-shirt or a bell-sleeved top, it’s an essential item that will easily transition from winter to spring. To avoid looking like I just stepped out of bed, I layered the dress with a ribbed turtleneck and red boots. Transform this look from day to night by adding statement jewels or stilettos.

I love the slip dress trend because there are so many ways it can be styled. The dress I’m wearing  has sticks of bubble gum printed all over it for a funky twist. I’ve paired it with a plain white t-shirt, a black leather jacket, a pair of white knee-high socks, black ankle booties and a bright lip colour.

I like to layer my slip dress with a thin t-shirt or turtleneck to make the dress more versatile, especially in the winter months. I like the idea of mixing prints and decided to pair my striped turtleneck with a leopard print coat to add a little extra detail and texture.

A slip dress with a moto jacket are a perfect match and work well as a date night outfit. Transition to ankle booties and a turtleneck sweater when you want a more casual look.
