While the rumour of H&M opening a high-end chain of stores has been circulating for less than a week, it feels like we’ve been waiting forever for the Swedish retailer to confirm or deny it. And today there’s finally been some progress: H&M’s CEO, Karl-Johan Persson, announced that they are indeed launching a completely new chain of stores in 2013.

Though details are still under wraps (no word yet on the name and price point of the chain) we’re keen on the speculation stated by Swedish newspaper Dagens Industri, who theorized that new stores will be high-end. All we know for sure is that they’ll be “independent and complement the other offerings from the H&M group.”

With famous designer collaborations such as Versace and Marni, and H&M’s newest red carpet–worthy Exclusive Conscious collection, a high-end brand seems like a natural progression. We’re keeping our fingers crossed!
