Halloween is fast approaching, and while we’ve already looked at ghoulish makeup and nail art, today’s Style Panel post is all about completing the look. From dressing stylishly on-theme to going full out Rocky Horror, here’s a glimpse into the costumey closets of our panel.

This year Halloween falls on a Friday, which means that you can dress up at work and switch it up for any post-work party. I always try to keep my costumes work appropriate when Halloween lands during a week day, and if anything have people question if I’m dressed up or if this was just my normal clothes. I’m planning to wear leopard from head-to-toe and go as Josie McCoy from Josie and the Pussycats. The simple costume allows for me to be both playful and professional.

Hallowe’en is by far my favourite time of the year. I love dressing up and taking on a new personality for the night. This year I will be dressing up as Miss Piggy for the evening but for daytime I will be wearing this skeleton dress, which I wore for a costume last year, as it is an easy and work appropriate way to show my love of all things spooky. There is no need to feel intimidated by not having an expensive costume; I often pull together my costumes from items I already have in my wardrobe - I don’t know if that’s sad or not. Thrift stores are the best place to find costume pieces that can be decent quality, budget-friendly and original. YouTube makeup tutorials are also a great way to have an impressive Hallowe’en look if you’re not into spending money on a costume. In the end, Hallowe’en is all about a good time so as long as you’re having fun with your costume it is sure to be a success.

When it comes to Halloween my only suggestion is to go hard or stay home. While Rocky Horror may not be the most original costume choice, it was deeply inspired by MAC Cosmetics latest collaboration with the infamous cult classic. I love the idea of completely changing what you look like for an evening and the Columbia character could not be further from my normal look. Be careful with spray on hair dye though, it will stain light coloured surfaces.
