Guelph: Gold rush
Spring’s love affair with all things golden may be the opulence we need to distract us from dreary economic times. Luckily, a glint of gold does not have to be extravagantly priced. It’s not about the cost--it’s about catching the eye, and adding something special to the season’s nude palette.

After getting her bachelor’s degree in visual arts, Deskur trained with a goldsmith and hasn’t looked back. Rather than labouring to keep up with the trends, she creates timeless pieces that can be worn again and again. Gold and silver are the materials of choice for the designer’s pendants, bracelets, earrings and rings. Deskur is working now on expanding her line into wedding and bridal pieces and if you’re looking for something completely unique, Macadi specializes in custom designed pieces.
I graduated from the University of Guelph with a degree in philosophy. I am currently enrolled in Sheridan College’s Journalism – New Media post-grad program. My childhood attempt at fashion consisted of pairing a faded 49ers T-shirt with, well, pretty much anything. Since then my closet has evolved into a sea of black and grey clothing, ballet flats and riding boots. If I had the confidence (and salary!) to wear whatever clothing I wanted, I would stock my closet with Dries Van Noten and Bottega Veneta.
