As the red carpet becomes more and more influential each year, what happens at the Golden Globes certainly doesn’t just stay at the Golden Globes. Last night’s A-list filled pre-show was so perfectly in sync, it was almost as if coordinated from on high (and by almost, we mean it must have been.) There were several crystal clear messages on this year’s red carpet, beginning with sex appeal. Kate Hudson, Emily Blunt and Rosamund Pike wore white cut out dresses, which served to flaunt their enviable bods, the latter of which just gave birth to a baby just last month. Sex appeal in cleavage form also made a comeback with Jennifer Lopez in Zuhair Murad and Jessica Chastain in Versace sounding the alarms. (On the flipside, Diane Kruger and Felicity Jones kept things elegant with high neck gowns by Emilia Wickstead and Dior respectively)

Elegant disco ball, another reigning trend saw Fifty Shades of Grey star Dakota Johnson shimmering in a strapless silver Chanel Haute Couture dress and Sienna Miller wearing a silver bejewelled Miu Miu dress. Meanwhile Julianne Moore owned statement-making in a silver sequined Givenchy Couture halter gown complete with a feathered train. Nominee Emma Stone added some intrigue to the trend, by choosing to wear her shimmer in pantsuit form. Her retro-styled Lanvin was one of the evening’s standout looks, complete with oversized satin bow.

The Golden Globes 2015 colour story was also fairly clear, with both Girls stars Lena Dunham and Allison Williams wearing the same pretty shade of red. House of Cards co-star Kate Mara was similarly hued in Miu Miu, as were Helen Mirren, Taylor Schilling, Catherine Zeta-Jones and more.
