Ever since Karl Lagerfeld unveiled Chanel’s latest must-have—the Gabrielle bag—during the house’s spring 2017 ready-to-wear show in Paris last October, we’ve been dreaming of strolling rue Cambon wearing this ultra-chic innovative convertible strap accessory.

Today, the French luxury house has released an exclusive new Inside Chanel video—Gabrielle, A Rebel at Heart—about the French label’s founder Gabrielle “Coco” Chanel. Known for her timeless designs, like the LBD, and her revolutionary sartorial ideas (costume jewellery and menswear-inspired tailoring, just to name a few) that changed womenswear forever, the late designer was an eternal rebel who believed in following her intuition and encouraged women to do the same. “I decided who I wanted to be, and that is who I am,” she famously once said.
Gabrielle, the iconic designer’s first name, is the inspiration behind a series of four films launching this year, around the themes of rebellion, freedom, passion and allure. These values remain positive messages for women around the world today: to be free of established rules, to be yourself, to dare to choose your own life. Something tells us, if Mlle Chanel were alive today, she would have been front and centre—tweed suit and all—at the recent #WomensMarchGlobal in Washington.
