Five Canadian Menswear Brands You Should Know

Introducing five brands on my radar (and why they should be on yours too).

It’s no secret that I love brands that push boundaries and challenge the norm. To my delight, Canada has become a hotbed for innovative menswear in recent years, with new brands making waves both locally and internationally. Among the most exciting labels to emerge are Mr. Saturday, 3.Paradis, Sons of Man, Spencer Badu and École de Pensée—each offering a fresh take on style, craftsmanship, innovation and cultural expression.

Mr. Saturday, a Toronto-based label, takes inspiration from past eras, subcultures and classic silhouettes. Designer Joey Gollish injects a sense of newness by playing with proportions and clashing elements. I’m especially loving the exaggerated blazers and wide leg trousers.

3.Paradis, founded by designer Emeric Tchatchoua, combines avant-garde design with high-quality fabrics. The result? Collections that are both artistic and wearable.

Since 2023, designer Patrick Yee of Sons of Man has embraced avant-garde streetwear. Think futurism, deconstruction and all things contemporary. The garments are also ethically made, drawing from Canadian heritage and reimagining them with a progressive twist. Here’s me, with my latest acquisition from the brand—a textured take on the classic button-down.

Individuality is central to Montreal-based label École de Pensée. Designed by Julien Gauthier, Marc-André Garand and William Lessard, the trio strikes a balance between conceptual art, fashion and Canadian/Quebecois cultural movements.

Leave your traditional gender norms at the door. Spencer Badu‘s namesake label seamlessly blurs the lines between the masculine and feminine. It’s the classics, remixed: convertible coats, zippered garments and hyper-textured bombers.

Sophistication, sustainability and style—these proudly Canadian fashion brands deliver all three in spades. Look them up, hit follow and keep your eyes peeled; the Canadian sartorial landscape is about to get real interesting.

Remember Boy George, Adam Ant and Spandau Ballet? This collection draws inspiration from London’s iconic Blitz Club, a hub of fashion and music that gave rise to these legends.

These aren't your typical blue jeans. Relaxed yet refined, this pair of denims features printed doves, dove-shaped rivets and the perfect straight-leg fit.

This collection hits all the right notes, from deconstructed shapes to a subtle colour scheme. It takes the timelessness of classic menswear and flips it on its head.

Loose-fitting trousers are an essential. This pair is crafted from a Japanese cotton-blend jacquard, designed to fit forgivingly with a slightly tapered ankle.

Badu's designs are decidedly minimalist with subtle yet impactful details. I really love this knit top with a built-in printed tie.
