First look: 10 things we love from the Brose Fall 2010 collection

After extensively dabbling in the business of fashion--she’s done marketing at Holt Renfrew and buying at the Bay and Bloomingdales and designing for Chloe, Pink Tartan and AlexSandro Palombo--Canadian designer Marika Brose has settled down to do her own thing with her clothing line Brose (marikabrose.com), now in its fourth season.

Her most recent labour of love is her Fall 2010 collection and it’s crystal clear this modeuse knows what she’s doing. Brose turns a rich variety of fabrics--luxe brocades, burn-out velvets, sheers and even jersey--into tulip skirts, sharp jackets and deceivingly simple dresses.

Although the midsummer heat makes December feels light years away, some of these pieces are already having us ponder our holiday party wardrobe.
