Chinese New Year Capsule Collections are Everywhere

This week kicked off with the announcement that Gucci would be launching a Year of the Dog capsule collection featuring illustrations of Alessandro Michele’s two beloved Boston Terriers, Bosco and Orso. Now, Moncler and Moschino have added their names to the list of labels that will be producing Chinese New Year-themed collections. With the number of Chinese millionaires expected to surpass that of any other nation by 2018, it appears that brands are finally responding to China’s affluence and creating products that cater specifically to their demographic. Dior Accused of Copying Indian Designer

People Tree, a New Delhi-based store featuring goods made by local artisans, has accused Dior of copying one of their block prints on a dress worn by Bollywood actress Sonam Kapoor on the cover of the January issue of Elle India. In a post on Facebook, People Tree founder Orjit Sen dug up the original hand-carved block print he created over 15 years ago. The Dior dress was designed by Maria Grazia Chiuria as part of the label’s Cruise 2018 collection. The People Tree dress with the original print sells for the equivalent of $23.60. (Quartz)

Move over Kaia Gerber! The latest model offspring to stomp the runway is Coco Rocha’s two-year-old daughter, Ioni Conran. The adorable tot totally stole Jean Paul Gaultier’s Spring 2018 couture show when she walked down runway hand-in-hand with her mother in matching custom silver sheaths with a heart printed on the chest. Model Adwoa Aboah Sparks Legal Battle Between Rival Model Management Companies

New York-based Modeling agency, which represents Shalom Harlow, Kristen McMenamy and Irina Shayk, has filed a lawsuit against DNA Model Management. The lawsuit alleges that Aboah threatened her mother, Camilla Lowther, would “cause The Lions problems in the fashion industry unless The Lions agreed to release Aboah from her contractual obligations,” and is seeking an “unspecified” amount of damages.
