10 perfect pieces you didn’t know you needed to dress for a spring picnic

With the long weekend coming up quick and lots of time outside on the itinerary, it’s time to dig out the picnic basket from the back of the closet. Packed full of mini sandwiches, fresh strawberries and baby bottles of something sparkly to drink, you’re all set for a day in the sun.

Once you’ve got the food figured out, you need to dress the part too. No picnic is complete without a little gingham (your blanket doesn’t have exclusive rights). Try a pair of tailored shorts or a floaty top (the Club Monaco one here has a pretty bow back). Wicker is a classic choice too. A straw “Daydreamer” hat or rope-handled bag is all you need to add a touch of whimsy to your outdoor party.

See the gallery below for picnic worthy ideas.
