Day Two: It’s raining men
Slightly soggy but still devastatingly stylish, FASHION headed back to the tents for round two. On the way into the media lounge, we spotted our fave male fashionista and ultimate charmer, Fashion File‘s Adrian Mainella. After a quick catch-up and an air kiss or two, FASHION sprinted back to our seats for the evening’s shows.
Nada
The show started and ended with little fanfare, but among the rather nondescript pieces throughout the collection, there were a few subtle standouts. But bat your L’Oreal lashes and you might have missed them. The melon print skirt was a pretty piece to add to any spring closet, but FASHION really took note of the silky watercolour harem pants–a directional “I Dream of Jeannie” trend that is probably best suited for the runway or glossy magazine pages. But FASHION dares you to try out this look and report back with your fashion findings. The closing look–a floor-length gown with silver paillettes–proved that sometimes you need to save the best for last.
Bustle
The Spring 2008 menswear collection, themed “a day at the track”, was a melodic mix of stripes and preppy pink and green. FASHION loved the polo-playing princes that walked the runway, but the title of fave man-candy goes to model Milan (a.k.a FASHION‘s new BF). Best pieces included pinstriped suitings and shorts, naval-inspired jackets and bright skinny ties. MTV darlings Jessi Cruickshank and Dan Levy made their runway debut and garnered a few shouts from the fash pack. FASHION left the show happily dreaming of Pimms and preppy pieces.

Joeffer Caoc
With a late start time (scheduled for 9:30 p.m. but actually more like 9:50 p.m.), FASHION was ready for a nightcap but instead we got a knockout collection. Hot highlights: super bright silks in fuchsia, purple and canary yellow jumped out from the runway. Lots of asymmetrical dresses (Caoc’s forte) and sweeping floor-length gowns with a modern minimalist vibe. The collection officially declared that bare shoulders this spring are the new erogenous zone. FASHION drooled over the orange goddess gown and the one-shouldered yellow gown (v. Jackie O and more, recently J.Lo at the Oscars). Other scene-stealers included the sequin floor-length stunner and the ethereal gown that floated down the runway and closed the show. Truly a vision in white.

As the clock struck 11 p.m., FASHION hailed a cab and hobbled into it’as much as we love our heels, we couldn’t wait to slide on our Ugg slippers.
