When we heard that London-born DJ Chelsea Leyland would be spinning at the Mackage Spring 2015 show during Toronto Fashion Week last month, we knew we had to be there. Leyland’s debut gig was at Valentino’s 2010 Fashion Night Out Celebrity Poker Tournament, and since then, she’s earned the title “Fashion’s DJ” for her regular rotation at industry events all over the globe. Since then, she’s deejayed at events for Armani, Christian Louboutin, Vogue, Naeem Khan and Chanel.
We caught up with Leyland backstage at Toronto Fashion Week to talk about her purse must-haves. From her mini Mackage Rubie Satchel to the bare minimals like lip balm and headphones, the jet-setting DJ is a surprisingly light packer. Some girls just have it all figured out.

What’s in your bag, Chelsea Leyland?
“My bag is a Mackage Rubie Satchel, which I picked out because I like the size of it, the fact that it’s really small. I don’t really like big bags, and it’s very chic. I think it’s the kind of bag you could wear in the day but also wear it out in the evening. And I love the fact that it has this little arrow that fastens it together. It’s really unique. I’ve actually never seen a bag like it. Obviously most importantly I have my headphones. These aren’t very exciting headphones; they’re just the Apple ones.”
