When it comes to TIFF red carpet, our attention is naturally on the ladies. But with TIFF 2015 wrapping up in a few days and it being Friday, we feel like it would be the responsible thing to do by shining the limelight on the men this time around. A little eye candy never hurt anyone, right?
As little black dresses are for women, black suits are for men. Last year many of the actors opted for navy blue, but this year’s shade of choice was clearly black. Jake Gyllenhaal kicked the festival off with a smart-looking Salvatore Ferragamo ensemble that featured a pop of red in the tie department. While Adrien Brody and Gerard Butler battled it out in who wore the black suit best on the Septembers of Shiraz red carpet, best pals George Clooney and Matt Damon tried a more casual approach for their individual premieres..
That’s not to say a few didn’t stray away from the trend. Tom Hiddleston no doubt takes the crown for most non-black suits worn at the festival (FYI he appeared in three different Ralph Lauren suits over the course of two days), while Eddie Redmayne took advantage of the warmer temperatures and stepped out in a cream-coloured linen suit. And then there was Johnny Depp who worked his usual eccentric style.
Whether they were stars of the show like Ryan Reynolds or played the supporting role to their beautiful wife/partner (see: John Krasinski and Joshua Jackson), these 18 men sure know how to hold their own at this year’s film festival.
