There’s Something Romantic Going on With Pam Anderson

I was recently at a fashion industry party, making small talk with acquaintances I hardly know, when the topic turned to Pam Anderson. Suddenly, everyone in our sleepy circle came alive. Have you seen her Naked Gun press tour looks? Don’t you love her tiny little bob? Did you hear she’s dating Liam Neeson?!

While the Pam-aissance has been in full swing for years, it’s clearly as strong as ever. Everyone loves Pam, and everyone wants to talk about it. It’s a particularly delightful time to be a fan of Pam Anderson, because her promotional looks for The Naked Gun are some of the best we’ve seen all year, and her flirty red-carpet presence with Liam Neeson is equally as watchable. They’ve held hands, pecked cheeks, and given cryptic quotes about one another. What more could we ask for?

Context: The Naked Gun is a reboot of the 1988 comedy of the same name. It stars Liam Neeson as a bumbling police officer (perfect) who crosses paths with Pam Anderson as an alluring femme fatale (obviously). High jinks ensue, etc. It’s been called “gloriously dumb” and “affectionately silly”, but more importantly, it’s given us a culturally robust press tour. We’ve gotten dating rumours, cheeky one-liners and, thanks to Pam Anderson, ultra-glamorous gowns.

While the relationship status between Pam Anderson and Liam Neeson has not been confirmed, Anderson’s outfits ooze romance. Her appearances have comprised old-Hollywood curls, jewel tones, and sumptuous draping galore. We may never know what, exactly, is going on between these undeniably hot co-stars, but we can sniff out the vibe based on the red carpet style alone.

On July 22, she kicked things off at the UK premiere of The Naked Gun in a strapless custom Rodarte gown and custom Pandora lab-grown diamonds. The intricately draped bodice hugs her torso, while the skirt cascades into a fluid sheer train. The rich purple hue set the tone for the looks to come: deep, mysterious and effortlessly glamorous.

The next day, she turned heads at the London photocall in two looks that embodied vintage elegance. One, a black Ferragamo cape dress paired with a leopard-print pillbox hat, reminiscent of Jackie O. The other, an off-white Marc Jacobs-era Louis Vuitton dress with a sculptural silhouette and gauzy tiers.

On July 24, Pam Anderson attended the Berlin photocall of The Naked Gun in a blue hourglass structured satin dress and matching dusty blue pointed pumps. Her hair was swept back in big curls, and her minimal accessories complemented her now-signature no-makeup look.

Later than night, she attended the premiere in a deep green frock by Danielle Frankel. Covered in emerald micro-pleats, the drop-waist design exuded accessorizing intentionality, thanks to the sheer scarf and coordinating diamond earrings.

A few days later, in New York, she slipped into a gown by Thom Browne. The American designer is known for his more-than-meets-the-eye tailoring, and dressed Anderson in an A-line navy number embellished with a shimmering Pandora lab-grown diamond brooch. Her black lace gloves conveyed mystique and intrigue, just like her co-star flirtatiousness.

Intense eye contact and red carpet inside jokes aside, what is really going on here? When asked about his relationship with Pam Anderson, Liam Neeson said the pair “met on set,” before adding about their dynamic: “It’s like, ‘Oh, this is nice. Let’s not mould this. Let’s just let it breathe.’” (?) Dating or not, these appearances emit amour. At the very least, they make for an excellent ice-breaker topic at a party.
