Pale Blue, Peplums and Polka Dots Stood Out on the 2024 Oscars Red Carpet

Margot Robbie ditched her Barbie looks for classic black, while other stars had fun with colour and texture — like America Ferrera in pink chainmail Versace and Emma Stone in a mint green jacquard Louis Vuitton gown.

Anyone else feel like awards season has been 1,713 days long? (Not complaining, though — nothing takes the winter chill off like Margot Robbie continuing to cosplay as Barbie or Barry Keoghan in a dandy suit.) The culmination of awards season is, naturally, the Academy Awards and while the nominations were a mixed bag of snubs and surprises, the Oscars red carpet 2024 delivered when it came to celebrity style.

Black was the colour of the evening, with Sandra Hüller ravishing in dramatic Schiaparelli. First-time nominee America Ferrera was pretty in pink chainmail Atelier Versace, looking like she borrowed her gown from Barbie costar Margot Robbie (in a good way). Peplums are here to stay, say Emma Stone and Lupita Nyong’o. And while Wicked star (and former FASHION cover model) Cynthia Erivo turned heads in custom Louis Vuitton, it was her beauty look — including long emerald nails to match her green gown and a clean-shaven head — that stole the show.
