To us at FASHION—and to the millions of fashion enthusiasts in the world—the first Monday in May is one of the most anticipated nights of the year. Like a buzzer-beater riles up sports fans and a dramatic plot twist keeps viewers glued to their screens, the spirit of sartorial splendour possesses us when Met Gala season arrives.

Needless to say, seeing the hit the carpet is one of the most exhilarating parts of the Met Gala experience. Still, we’d argue that while seeing the looks is one thing, discovering which designers are behind them is another beast entirely. It’s vital information that spurs countless other questions: Will celebrities continue collaborating with the designers they’ve previously worked with? Will new celeb-designer relationships arise? Did the designers nail the theme at all?

If you’ve found yourself asking the same questions, keep reading. Here, we round up the designers who dressed the most stars at the 2025 Met Gala.

Louis Vuitton

With Louis Vuitton Creative Director Pharrell Williams being a co-chair of this year’s Gala, it’s no wonder the house was so well represented on the carpet. Standouts include Zendaya’s crisp, all-white suit, Sabrina Carpenter’s polarizing pantless moment and Pharrell’s own look, which featured a structured blazer crafted out of micro-pearls. Doechii, who has long been a Thom Browne darling, was also decked out in a logo-emblazoned Louis Vuitton short suit after being spotted full LV gear days before the event.

Valentino

It was clear the night was off to a stellar start when Colman Domingo graced the carpet in a Valentino confection. He wore a royal blue bedazzled cloak, reminiscent of the late, great André Leon Talley—only to reveal an equally on-theme patterned suit underneath. Justice Smith co-signed the polka dot trend. Clairo and Freen Sarocha both wore billowing black skirts, paired with waist-cinching jackets. Amelia Gray delivered what might be considered one of the most head-turning looks of the night (for better or for worse...), with a full lace bodysuit and trailing lace durag.

Burberry

Bringing some of the night’s most out-of-the-box looks, Burberry delivered the extravagance and fun that is so central to dandyism. Jodie Turner-Smith paid tribute to Black equestrian Selika Lazevski with a dark red bustle and theatrically tipped top hat. Law Roach kept things classic with a crushed velvet suit and a Prince-inspired ‘do. And then there was André 3000, who arrived in a boiler suit with a piano strapped to his body. (He also dropped 7 Piano Sketches, his latest EP, that night.)

Wales Bonner

“From the moment I heard the theme of this year’s Met Gala, I knew I wanted to work with Grace Wales Bonner,” co-chair Lewis Hamilton shared in an Instagram post. The British-Jamaican designer (who also made her Met Gala debut) dressed some of the most prominent figures of the night—including Tyler Mitchell, who lensed the Met’s spring exhibition catalog, and Monica L. Miller, whose college thesis would eventually inspire the theme of the 2025 Met Gala.

Marc Jacobs

Dressing the likes of J Balvin, Tracee Ellis Ross and Doja Cat, Marc Jacobs delivered a variety of looks on the daffodil-festooned carpet. Balvin kept things low-key with a three-piece pastel-pink suit. Ellis Ross, on the other hand, sported more vibrant shades with a deep magenta blazer and a hot-pink bustle. And who could forget about Rihanna? Revealing baby number three, the star made a surprise appearance in a carpet-grazing skirt, fashioned out of a pinstriped blazer.

Thom Browne

If there’s anyone who can inject a little extra fun into tailoring, it’s Thom Browne. Bringing his ability to subvert classic codes to the carpet, his designs were worn by the likes of Janelle Monáe, Anok Yai, Zoe Saldaña, Whoopi Goldberg and Tramell Tillman.
