MMVA 2015: 22 photos of all the best-dressed (in Canadian!) stars on the red carpet

A block of Queen Street was closed off this past weekend, which can only mean one thing: the MuchMusic Video Awards (aka the street bash of the summer). With British cutie Ed Sheeran taking on hosting duties and serenading fans, the evening started off with a bang with Fall Out Boy and Carly Rae Jepsen pumping up the crowd with their latest singles. Between Drake’s surprise appearance (in sweats might we add), The Weeknd being the biggest winner of the night and the presence of many, many hot babes (Shawn Mendes, Nick Jonas, Jason Derulo and Cody Simpson  to name a few), it’s safe to say MMVA 2015 blew previous years way out of the park.

But even before the show, the red carpet heated up with steamier than usual looks by some of our favourite glamour girls.  Take Sarah Hyland for example. One to usually step out in lady-like dresses, the Modern Family star changed it up with quite the skin-baring Solace London dress (side boob and all) for last night’s festivities. Hailee Steinfeld and Bella Thorne also did not disappoint in the wardrobe department. While Steinfeld sparkled in a rocker chic Emilio Pucci dress, Thorne sizzled in red-hot Julien Macdonald.

However, the star of the red carpet was surely Gigi Hadid. One to support Canadian’s homegrown designers when in Toronto (see: Maybelline New York anniversary party), Mikhael Kale was her pick this time around. Dressed in a sexy two-piece ensemble, Hadid added some edge with a white moto jacket with “#Hadid” emblazoned on the back. “The jacket is a play on Gigi’s social media presence,” says Kale. “It was so great to work with Gigi! I adore her!” And speaking of Canadian talents, Liz Trinnear decided to walk the red carpet in a silver Mikhael D dress before glamming it up in a gold number by Zhivago for the remainder of the night.
