A-list stars celebrated the start of May by rocking a dizzying assortment of outfits that reflected the hottest trends of this season. On Thursday night, the first annual iHeart Radio music awards took place in Los Angeles. While music diehards tuned in to watch their favourite singers on stage, we were busy keeping tabs on what they were bringing to the red carpet. Shakira and Selena Gomez shook things up in the fashion department with eye-catching two-piece ensembles, but it was Rihanna who stole the show (really, when does she not?) in a skin-baring lace dress and vibrant emerald-green lipstick.

Over on the east coast, some of Hollywood’s brightest stars attended the 100th Annual White House Correspondents’ Association Dinner, where they dined with Michelle Obama among other House of Cards-eqsue political stars. Celebrities brought their sartorial A-game to the red carpet, working outfits that would rival those seen this past award season. While some star guests like Lupita Nyong’o and Kristen Bell opted for elegant floor-length gowns in darker hues, Anna Kendrick and Freida Pinto (and the FLOTUS as well!) stood out from the well-dressed crowd in brighter and bolder shades.
