Anya Taylor-Joy is a notoriously private public figure. She once pulled off a secret wedding ceremony. She doesn’t share her personal life on social media. And unless she’s partaking in a highly publicized press tour, we rarely see her in paparazzi shots. But when she does have a movie to promote — as is currently the case with the upcoming film The Gorge — she doesn’t hold back.
Recently, the star has been making appearances around New York City to promote her latest silver-screen project. The action-romance follows two highly-trained operatives (Taylor-Joy and Miles Teller) who work together to guard a classified gorge, protecting the world from an evil energy that lurks within it. All things mysterious, dark and can’t-look-away thrilling, the film’s moody premise serves as the perfect backdrop for her exciting street-style endeavours. And if we know one thing about Anya Taylor-Joy, it’s that she loves dressing for a theme.
To kick things off on February 4, she stepped out in a sumptuous McQueen shearling coat with exaggerated shoulders and a rounded silhouette. The peacock comparisons were near-immediate, but so was the buzz. It undeniably set the tone for the array of sartorial statements Taylor-Joy was about to make.
Case in point: While fitting in more appearances on the same day, she leaned into ’60s whimsy with two expertly tailored sets courtesy of Celine by Heidi Slimane.
The first? A static grey set featuring thick white piping, finished off with white boots. The second? A tweed mini-skirt set in a classic houndstooth motif with glistening black knee-highs. This portion of the day was undeniably retro-leaning, before Taylor-Joy decided to completely switch up her aesthetic once again.
Later that afternoon, while on her way to The Drew Barrymore Show, she opted for an unconventional pairing: biker shorts, a bubble skirt and a brown Loewe cape jacket. Merging three contentious modern-day trends, the look is firmly rooted in 2025-era singularity. It’s unexpected, and that’s what makes it oh-so-very Anya Taylor-Joy.
Just as buzz was building over that look, she changed into a cape by Celine. When she was clutching the oversized monochromatic cloak, it suggested she was finishing the day in a decidedly demure outfit. (And perhaps subtly co-signing on the return of the statement necklace.) But when the cape opened, she showcased the true star of the sartorial show: a chic black-on-black no-pants ensemble.

To end off a highly-fashionable day of appearances, she changed into a full-length brown leather coat which she accessorized with a gargantuan suede bag. (Perhaps holding all her outfit changes.)
From playful proportions to cheeky skin-baring cuts, Anya Taylor-Joy is using The Gorge press tour to do what she does best. She’s not one to make sweeping public statements with words. But if you look a little deeper, her style always tells a story of its own.
