If this first batch of celebrity style says anything about what to expect red-carpet wise in 2015, then it’s going to be one helluva stylish year.

New Year and style resolutions may go hand-in-hand, but celebrities can’t get enough of tried-and-trued pieces when it comes to red carpet events. Case in point: the little black dress. Reese Witherspoon stunned us in a pearl-embellished black dress by Michael Kors, sweetening up the look with a bright pink lip. Marion Cotillard showed off the perks of being a Dior ambassador, debuting the designer label’s Pre-Fall 2015 piece at the New York Film Critics Circle Awards. And while Julianne Moore may have worked the latter part of 2014 rocking the darker shade, the actress surprised us all by starting the year off with a flirty, red number by Delpozo at the 26th Annual Palm Springs International Film Festival Awards Gala.

Meanwhile on the east coast, New York’s American Museum of Natural History hosted the much-anticipated Girls season four premiere. While Jemima Kirke and Allison Williams opted for more traditional red carpet gowns, Zosia Mamet (with gray hair and all) stood out from her cast mates in a leather fit-and-flare red dress by Alexander McQueen. But of course, a brunette Lena Dunham stole the show (naturally) in a Creatures of the Wind black dress, featuring vibrant bronze, aqua-blue, green and yellow sequin embroider.
