Calgary: Stylista in the city

Wouldn’t it be fabulous if you could shop for a living?  And, I don’t mean for groceries, stationary supplies or diapers…I mean Neiman Marcus, Saks Fifth Avenue and Holt Renfrew. For Calgary based stylist Karla Carol’Ann Pospisil this is a way of life.

After spending years assisting as a makeup artist in film and television, Pospisil was craving a change of pace. So, she listened to that little voice in her head, packed her bags and moved to New York City, where she attended the Fashion Institute of Technology and delved into the art of styling, learning from the best in the biz. Three years later, she found herself back in the Calgary fashion scene, managing Naked (1510 17 Ave. SW, 403-229-3013, dressonpurpose.ca) while expanding her fashion consulting firm, Parker Max Industries (parkermaxindustries.com).  Pospisil keeps her thumb on the pulse, by making frequent trips back to the Big Apple, especially for New York Fashion Week.

“Karla brings a chic understanding of how to translate runway to main street. Her interpretation is perfect for the Calgary scene,” says Naked owner Medeana Moussa.  2009 brings fresh and exciting opportunities for existing and new clientele: Pospisil and Moussa will provide “closet audits” for customers looking to revamp and revive their current wardrobe (without your missteps being exploited on national television, à la What Not to Wear). The duo offer up insightful and compassionate guidance to women, advising what items should be purged and what is worth preserving.  I can’t think of a better way to ring in the new year, than with a polished new you.
