Boston Bombing Survivor Appears at Vancouver Fashion Week

At Vancouver Fashion Week on Friday, Toronto designer Lesley Hampton made a statement with her choice of runway models as well her FW17 eveningwear. Professional dancer Adrianne Haslet-Davis, who lost her lower left leg in 2013’s Boston Marathon bombing, opened the show, followed by models of varied shapes and sizes.

Hampton partnered with the Be Body Aware Project, and its founder, model Tia Duffy was on hand to introduce the presentation.

Challenging conventions and redefining beauty is a continual thread through Hampton’s work. “Adrianne translates everything the label stands for,” says Hampton, “I’m hoping to set an example for anyone affected by adversity and stand up once again to the fashion standards.’'
