Birks Celebrates This Year’s Women In Film During TIFF

For the first time honourees were awarded a cash prize in recognition of their contributions to Canadian film.

Birks, in partnership with Telefilm, hosted a star-studded evening at The Atrium at Ricarda’s this week to celebrate the work of six women from within Canada’s film industry.

The Birks Diamond Tribute to the Year’s Women in Film which is held traditionally during TIFF, recognized the accomplishments of actresses Tantoo Cardinal and Pascale Bussières, screenwriter Susan Coyne, and directors Nettie Wild, Stella Meghie and Jeanne Leblanc.

Jean-Christophe Bebos, president and CEO of Birks Group inc., joined the leading ladies on stage for the presentation, alongside Birks VP, brand management and chief marketing officer, Eva Hartling and Crista Dickenson, the executive director of Telefilm Canada.

For the first time this year, each of the Diamond Tribute honourees will receive a cash prize from Birks for their efforts, with a goal of encouraging each recipient to continue sharing their stories, via film, with the world.
