Australian News Anchor Loses It When Co-Host Wears White On Air

When you work with the same group of people for an extended period of time, it’s not uncommon to show up for work wearing similar things. So wearing the same colour as your co-worker shouldn’t be an issue, right?

Wrong…at least to Australian news anchor, Amber Sherlock.

A leaked video of Sherlock and two other personalities on a Channel Nine News segment is currently going viral because of the anchor’s “meltdown” over all three women wearing white.

In the clip, which was recorded before the live segment, Sherlock blasts co-host Julie Snook (the woman on the left of the screen), for apparently not listening to her prior instructions and choosing to wear the hue.

“Julie, you need to put a jacket on,” Sherlock says, while the guest on the right of the screen, Sandy Rea, laughs.

“You’re alright, Sandy, because you told me,” Sherlock continues. “But there can’t be three of us [wearing white] and I made this clear two and a half hours ago … I wasn’t saying it for no reason, the wardrobe girls are going to be furious.”

Snook then tells her co-host if it is, indeed, an issue, she can go and get a jacket, to which Sherlock retorted, “Yeah, it is an issue. Go and grab a jacket.”

“I’m wearing blue, for one, Amber,” Snook tries to explain, but to no avail. (Meanwhile, poor Sandy is just getting more and more uncomfortable with the passive-aggressive exchange.)

Finally, someone brings a jacket for Sandy, and the show goes on, with all women sporting smiles on their faces.

Following the circulation of the video, Amber admitted she “probably overreacted.”

“Live TV can be a pretty stressful beast, at times,” Amber said in a statement to 9Honey. “And as anyone knows, it’s never much fun rocking up to work or to a party in the same outfit as one of your colleagues or friends. I probably overreacted with the pressure of presenting a live news bulletin.”

Julie, took things in stride, trying to laugh it off.

“What can I say? Amber and I just really love white!” she told 9Honey. “Amber and I are good friends and I really enjoy working with her. News is a fast moving environment and sometimes these things happen.”

Unfortunately for Amber, Twitter doesn’t forget, and even started the hashtag #PutYourBlazersOnForJulie in support of the co-host:

Here’s hoping whoever leaked the video doesn’t experience the same wrath.
