There’s a spirit of freedom and experimentation that arrives with the changing of the seasons. When the temperature cools, fashion lovers feel a renewed hunger for fresh ideas and the thrill of wearing fall clothes once more. This fearless spirit, inspired by iconic British style, is embodied in H&M’s bold new A/W 2025 collection.

“The mood is a playful eclecticism that nods to the iconic look and spirit of the ‘90s, when lacy, light pieces were effortlessly thrown together with denim, leather or sportswear,” says Eliana Masgalos, the design director at H&M.

The first drop of the collection, Chapter 1, is filled with playfully nostalgic daywear that draws inspiration from groovy 1970s rock meets grungy 1990s Britpop, while Chapter 2, which launches October 2nd, is steeped in elevated evening glamour.

Each piece, from silky draped tops to knee-high kitten heel boots, conjures images of evenings spent dancing in clubs with smeared eyeliner alongside such British style icons as Kate Moss and Alexa Chung. A spirit of rock star elegance runs through the entire collection, which juxtaposes leather with lace and silky oversized bomber jackets with refined slip dresses. Everything is a little bit unexpected.

“The collection is full of standout pieces that demand attention, like the glossy high-shine leather, and the sharp suiting, produced in Europe, is of such incredible quality,” says Masgalos. “I love the sensuality that runs across the pieces, from the barely-there lace strap tops through to the glamorous fur outerwear.” Filled with prim lacy tops and high-gloss jeans, the selection is a joyful, riotous burst of energy.

H&M’s detailed designs hit on all of the key trends for fall—flowy bohemian elements, preppy tailoring, sensual lingerie and upscale punk—with pieces made to mix and match any mood. Anchoring the collection are sumptuous tailored separates crafted from rich Italian fabrics.

Flecked grey blazers and oversize pleated trousers, when paired with pointy snakeskin boots, add an irreverent twist to the classic workwear look. The result remixes classic suiting, shaking up tradition in an appealingly modern way.

The collection looks forward to a sci-fi vision of the future: imagine a more bohemian Blade Runner. A long-sleeve half-zip hoodie is sport-inspired, but when paired with a leather-look moto skirt that reaches the knee, it translates into badassery incarnate. Sweeping chiffon blouses add an air of sensuality and romance but contain a punk edge when styled with a black belt studded with silver hardware. Faux fur hooded jackets heighten the glamour factor and keep you cosy wrapped in warm plush fabric.

For real risk takers, the collection features standout styles that are quirky, even borderline outrageous. A miniskirt made entirely from belts turns accessories into art and fashion into a Dadaist experiment, and a high heel covered in faux fur from Chapter 1 resembles a living creature.

Chapter 2 of H&M’s A/W 2025 collection is a bold statement that rewards adventurousness and encourages wearers to embrace a sense of edginess in their approach to everyday dressing. It’s for renegades, visionaries and starry-eyed dreamers.
