Your Emoji Library Is About to Get a Whole Lot Bigger

Thanks to Apple's upcoming new characters

The crying-tears-of-laughter face might be the most used emoji on Twitter but with Apple’s soon-to-be-released roster of over 70 new emojis, who knows—it might just get dethroned. Launching later this year in a free software update, the new slate of offerings will include an icy-freezing emoji, a face with pleading puppy-dog eyes, a celebratory face complete with party hat and party horn, and even two new superhero emojis, which, honestly we’re surprised took this long.

In the spirit of inclusivity, there will also be new emojis that better represent men and women with orange, grey and curly hair, as well as a new emoji for bald people. And of course, no emoji keyboard updates would be complete without food. Pizza, beer and avocados may be some of the most popular food and drink emojis at the moment (no surprise there), but soon you’ll be able to add cupcakes, mangoes and moon cakes to your emoji diet too.

If I had to hazard a guess, I see the freezing face emoji quickly rising to the most-used spot. Is there anything else more likely to be deployed with near-frantic regularity the moment winter kicks in?
