Lizzo’s Guided Meditation Will Help Soothe Your COVID-19 Anxiety

"Fear does not exist in my body. Fear does not exist in my home. Love exists in my body. Love exists in my home."

It’s safe to say COVID-19 has us all a little on edge right now. With all the grocery stockpiling and social distancing, some relaxation and stress-relief is a welcome respite. And we can count on Lizzo for that, obvs. The singer/flutist/general ray of sunshine hopped on Instagram Live on March 14 to lead a meditation session in an effort to promote “healing from fear during this global crisis.”

In the video, now posted to her grid for posterity, Lizzo starts out playing the flute while sat at a table covered with a variety of crystals and incense burning. A few minutes in, the musician explains that she was scheduled to play the Houston Rodeo but had to cancel.

“It’s a scary time for a lot of people. Even I was experiencing some fear. More so than fear, I was experiencing helplessness,” Lizzo says. “There’s the disease and then there’s the fear of the disease. Fear can spread so much hatred and negative energy, and fear can spread the disease even quicker than the disease can.”

During the meditation, she encouraged everyone to imagine their home, their town and the Earth as a body and to imagine fear as “anything that’s easily removable.” Then she said to imagine taking the fear off of the Earth and replacing it with love, which *isn’t* something that’s easily removable.

“We need to be there to help each other, we can’t be afraid of each other,” she said. She also came up with a bomb mantra that we should all be living by right now: “Fear does not exist in my body. Fear does not exist in my home. Love exists in my body. Love exists in my home.”
