Which Now and Then character are you?

20 years ago today, Now and Then introduced us to four of the most important pop culture figures the world has ever known: Sam, Teeny, Roberta, and Chrissy -- powerful fictional young women many of us (but especially me), grew up aspiring to be like.

In some cases, those aspirations went well. Provided you had an ideal friend group, it was easy to determine which one of your posse would be most likely to stick Jello-filled balloons in her bra, and which would fake her own drowning just to make sense of death. On the other hand, we lived in fear of being Chrissy; the character with the most common sense, stable home life, and loving family, but whose lack of mystique (and/or seance gear) cemented her as the resident wet blanket. We have all been the Chrissy. And arguably, most of us are Chrissy right now. But to dispel this theory -- and to celebrate the most important coming-of-age movie this side of Stand By Me (which I believe was written on the DVD case) -- we’ve come up with the only quiz that matters: Which Now and Then character are you? Seriously. Like, really.

Keeping, of course, in mind that we did not include young Devon Sawa and his pair of Lee brand denim shorts. (Although only one character gets to kiss him.)
