The Toronto International Film Festival opened last night with a decidedly Canadian theme. The gala screening was for Score: A Hockey Musical, so a fully Canuck band of celebs were in attendance--George Strombolopolous, who played a hockey announcer, Nelly Furtado, who yelled from the stands as a streak-haired puck bunny and Walter Gretzky, who played himself in a vision. Aussie Olivia Newton-John plays a hockey mom in the film, and made an appearance at the premiere, as did young stars Noah Reid and Allie MacDonald (styled by our own Caitlan Moneta), who was wearing a navy Greta Constantine frock, Aldo shoes and a mega-carat necklace of raw Ontario diamonds from Birks. (The clutch isn’t Canadian--it’s by New York designer Ted Rossi, but the studs make it okay.)
