TIFF 2017: Inside the Disobedience Cocktail Party
FASHION Reviews Everything TIFF
Toronto International Film Festival is mostly about cinema (obviously). But TIFF isn’t only about films. There are parties to attend, stars to spot on the street, and brand activations everywhere. It’s high time for all aspects of TIFF to get the same critical attention as the films.
Welcome to FASHION Reviews Everything TIFF-related. While this might not be an entirely comprehensive appraisal—it’s as impossible to be at every party as it is to see every film— if we attend anything linked to the Toronto International Film Festival in any way, we’ll review it here.
If you’ve been following our TIFF coverage thus far, you’ll know how much we rave about the food at RBC House—namely those sliders. Well, turns out Rachel Weisz might be a fan too! We witnessed the British actress, in an exquisite Dolce & Gabbana gown, happily munching on one of the tiny morsels of goodness on Sunday night at cocktail party for Disobedience—the film in which she stars.
Disobedience, which is loosely based on the 2006 novel by Naomi Alderman, tells the story of a New York-based woman (Weisz), who travels back home to London to her orthodox Jewish family, and rekindles a relationship with a childhood friend (Rachel McAdams).
Also in attendance at the party were Chilean director Sebastián Lelio, actor Alessandro Nivola, and of course, Rachel McAdams—in a dreamy blue Elie Saab number, in case you were wondering—who was flanked by her family who came out to support her (we saw her sister, makeup artist Kayleen McAdams). Overall, it was a great night, with guests sipping on Cîroc cocktails and grooving to very good tunes by way of The Doobie Brothers (“What a Fool Believes”) and Drake (“Passionfruit”).
TL;DR
– Rachel Weisz enjoying a slider
– Rachel McAdams’ family came out to support
– The Doobie Brothers + Drake FTW
