Selena Gomez’s ‘Bad Liar’ Film is Here and it’s Confusing AF

On Tuesday evening, Selena Gomez teased a preview of her “Bad Liar” film (the single’s “music video” was released exclusively on Spotify at the same time the track came out), warning us that things would “get weird tomorrow,” and ironically, she wasn’t lying.

The almost four-minute vid was released on Wednesday, and it’s confusing AF. Directed by Jesse Peretz, the film sees Gomez playing four different characters (including the Farah Fawcett lookalike she showcased on Instagram) in a ‘70s-style setting.

We first see the 24-year-old songstress as a teenager in high school, riding her bike and wearing a Canadian tuxedo. Later, Selena is seen at school, which is reminiscent of her Wizard of Waverly Place days (except, you know, in the ‘70s and in sepia tone).

Once Selena finally gets to class, that’s where things get confusing. Gomez (the student) looks out the window and sees the Farah Fawcett woman (also played by Gomez, as we said before), sitting in a car. A male teacher (or perhaps principal), again, played by Gomez, flirts with Farrah and student Selena looks distressed.

Principal Selena and Farrah Selena also flirt in the school.

At this point, we assumed Farrah was student Selena’s mom, which makes for an awkward situation all around and explains why student Selena was so upset.

But, WE WERE WRONG.

Turns out, Farrah is, in fact, a gym teacher at the school (and student Selena’s coach) and it’s the male teacher (or principal) who is student Selena’s dad.

Oh, and he’s still married to student Selena’s mom, also played by — you guessed it! — Selena.

Flash-forward to the end of day, when Selena’s parents are eating dinner. Student Selena gets home from school, sees her parents, then runs up to her room where she dances alone. When her mom comes in to check up on her, she pretends to be sleeping. But after her mom leaves, Selena longingly looks at a polaroid of her gym teacher (yes, Farrah), stroking the photo.

So in the end, it turns out Selena’s dad isn’t the only one lusting after Farrah — student Selena is, too!

And if that wasn’t enough of a plot twist, Gomez also took the opportunity to tease an upcoming project called “FETISH.” Whether it’s the name of her next single or part two of the “Bad Liar” film, we don’t know, but we are certainly intrigued. And thats the truth.
