Rooney Mara versus Amber Heard: Which star wore the crop top best?
Oh, crop tops! As one of the season’s biggest fashion staples, we’ve seen the crop top make appearances at music festivals, park hangs and red carpets galore. While some leading ladies find continual crop top success (Miley should get an award) others save the style for statement-making moments. Yesterday Amber Heard and Rooney Mara took their turns at the trend and both actresses sported spot-on crop top ensembles.
Rooney Mara opted for the bold look at a screening of Ain’t Them Bodies Saints in New York City. The risk factor was low for Mara, whose perfectly toned midriff was subtly displayed through the simple Calvin Klein ensemble. Mara kept her navy blue long sleeved crop top balanced with an equally dark minimalist pencil skirt. The outfit was topped off with a pair of Brian Atwood sandals in a matching shade of black. Mara pinned half her hair up and left the other half wavy, showing off its new longer length. Minimal eye make-up, bronzer and bold brows had Mara looking radiant. We like to think she topped off her look with a spray of her favourite Calvin Klein perfume.
Amber Heard, in town for the Hollywood Foreign Press Association’s 2013 Installation luncheon, looked angelic in a cropped two-piece white ensemble from the Osman Resort 2014 collection. Both top and bottom were loose and flowing, presenting a fresh take on a typically tighter look. In the accessories department, Heard chose neutral Casadei pumps and an arm party of gold bangles. She had her hair styled in a braided up-do, keeping all attention on her smokey bronze eyes and rose-coloured pout.
