Rihanna in a… gown? The singer shines bright in Zac Posen and plenty of diamonds

Rihanna officially set the bar for extravagant holiday fêtes last night, with her first annual Diamond Ball. In honour of the Clara Lionel Foundation, the singer put together a lavish event to raise money for the charity and celebrate the holidays with family and friends. Held at The Vineyard in Los Angeles, celebrity guests including Kim Kardashian and Salma Hayek, attended in support of the charitable organization named for Rihanna’s grandparents, Clara and Lionel Braithwaite. The organization seeks to improve quality of life in areas of health, education, culture and arts for communities across the globe.
Enlisting in the help of Jimmy Kimmel to host, and Brad Pitt who made a heart-felt speech, the singer also performed, accompanied by a special orchestra.
The singer was clad in no shortage of diamonds (fittingly) and surprised us by donning an off-the-shoulder crimson Zac Posen satin ball gown from the designer’s Fall 2014 collection. Pairing the dress with a stunning Chopard tourmaline and diamond necklace, the look was pulled together with a sleek low ponytail and dark cherry lips.
While the last year has seen a number of Tom Ford red carpet appearances, the singer’s latest look tells us we have a lot to look forward to in 2015.
