Michelle Obama’s Appearance on The Tonight Show Was Everything

“Thank you, Barack, for proving you’re not a lame duck but my very own silver fox,” said Michelle Obama. She puts down her pen and clasps the note to her chest as the crowd cheers.

With the first lady’s stay at the White House coming to a tearful end, she elegantly wraps up her public appearances with The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. FLOTUS joined Fallon Wednesday at his desk to write thank-you notes to her husband, Inauguration Day (a.k.a. Let’s Move!) and her initiative Reach Higher.

She wasn’t the only person with tons of gratitude to show. Fallon took a turn writing thank-you notes to Michelle, mentioning how strong, stylish and great at dancing she is. His last note: “Hey, since you like exercise so much, how about running for president?" The crowd obviously freaked out.

But the first lady fans, who were told to read their farewell letters to a portrait of her (while she hid behind a curtain ready to surprise them), might just bring you to tears. So if you want to watch it, grab a box of tissues and a tub of Ben & Jerry’s and you’re good to go. Don’t say we didn’t warn you!
