When news broke that Marvel Studios would be giving Black Panther a solo film in its famous Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), fans all over the world went insane.

The film, directed and written by 30-year-old Ryan Coogler, features a top-notch cast: Chadwick Boseman, Michael B. Jordan, Lupita Nyong’o and The Walking Dead‘s Danai Gurira. Also confirmed to be a part of the project are Martin Freeman, Andy Serkis and Forest Whitaker.

According to a Marvel Studios press release, filming has officially begun and Marvel Studios proved it with this BTS photo on Instagram. Pics or didn’t happen, right?

Although many details haven’t been released regarding the film, what we do know is that there will be a slight tweak to the synopsis, as is the case with most of the films in the MCU.

Black Panther, whose real name is T’Challa, first appeared in Fantastic Four, Vol. 1 Issue 52, published in 1966. The film adaptation will follow T’Challa (played by Boseman), who, after the events of last year’s Captain America: Civil War, returns to Wakanda, a technologically advanced African nation that he calls home.

Black Panther, which is being shot in Atlanta, Ga. and South Korea, won’t be hitting theatres until February 16, 2018.

However, Marvel fans need not worry: This year is going to be a huge for the MCU, namely due to the releases of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 (May), Spider-Man: Homecoming (July), and Thor: Ragnarok (November). We can’t freaking wait!
