Cue the ooos and ahhhs: Liam Payne and Cheryl Cole have finally announced the birth of their son!
The news, which broke via Payn’s and Cole’s Instagrams this weekend, came amid the release of ex-One Directioner Zayn’s new single and a dramatic teaser video to promote Harry Styles’s upcoming single.
According to Payne’s Instagram, the pair welcomed a baby boy into their lives last Wednesday, March 22. “I’m incredibly happy to welcome our new baby boy into the world, it’s a moment that I will never forget for the rest of my life and my favourite memory I have so far,” Payne, 24, shared in his caption.
The couple began dating in February 2016, which came as a shock to many due to the fact that Cole, formerly of the early aughts girl group Girls Aloud, is 10 years Payne’s senior. Fans also found it eerie that the pair had first met while the Payne was auditioning for The X Factor, at 14 years old. (Cole was a judge on the show.)
Although they’ve yet to name their child, there are more pressing matters at hand, like who will the godparents be? Niall? Simon Cowell? We’ll have to wait and see!
