Kanye West Says He Will Run for President in 2024 and Confirms He’s Turning Yeezy Into a Sustainable Brand

He's also considering a name change, apparently.

Kanye West made his second appearance at the Fast Company Innovation Festival overnight and made some very interesting revelations about his future.

Addressing the crowd, West said, “When I run for president in 2024,” which resulted in laughter from the crowd to which he responded with a deadpan expression, “What y’all laughing at?” before continuing to say that he would “create so many jobs” if elected.

Adding to his statement, the Jesus is King rapper said, “What I’m saying is, when y’all read the headlines, ‘Kanye’s crazy,’ this and that, it’s like one in three African Americans are in jail and all of the celebrities are in jail also because they can’t say nothing. They’ve got no opinion. They’re so scared.”

It’s not the first time West has suggested he will run in the 2024 race, but there is still confusion as to whether or not he’s actually serious about throwing his hat in the ring.

Something we certainly hope he’s not serious about however is a change of name. In the same interview, the topic of billionaires came up prompting Kanye to say, “When people say it’s crass to call yourself a billionaire, I say I might legally change my name to Christian Genius Billionaire Kanye West for a year until y’all understand exactly what it is. It will be on the license plate.”

During the chat, Kanye also confirmed that he is taking his fashion brand Yeezy in a more sustainable direction by making Yeezy sneakers partly out of algae foam and moving production to Wyoming. “We have a 4,000 acre ranch and a couple of other properties out there. We’re going to be farming and going seed to sow and have our own cotton, hydroponic farm, hemp farm, wheat farm… and getting into how we can have less impact with the dyes because our colours are a big signature of the brand. Dyeing is one of the main things that’s impacting the planet in the fashion industry so just being responsible from A to Z. Our goal within the next two years is to bring the manufacturing back to America, South America and North America and bring it back stateside to present jobs for people back here.”

At least we know he’s serious about something.
