Here’s what you can expect on the first season of I Am Cait

Last Wednesday, Caitlyn Jenner took to the stage at the 2015 ESPYs, delivering a speech worthy of a mic-drop in advocacy for the acceptance of the transgender community.

“If there’s one thing I do know about my life, it’s about the power of the spotlight,” declared the Olympic decathlon champion and TV figure of Keeping Up with the Kardashians fame. “With the attention comes responsibility. I know I’m clear with my responsibility going forward. To tell my story the right way for me.” A precursor to what’s next on deck for Caitlyn, if you ask us.

We attended an advanced screening of I Am Cait, an 8-part series documenting her daily life. Although sprinkled with silly moments (read: a scene involving stepdaughter Kim Kardashian and a Tom Ford dress) we’re looking forward to seeing how this show will educate legions of KUWK fans on still-niche transgender issues. Here are a few observations and highlights from what we’ve seen thus far:

She’s forever young…
…and is giving millennials a run for their money. The installment opens up with the 65-year old ostensibly vlogging in the middle of the night. Kudos to Cait for being tech savvy and pulling an involuntary #IWokeUpLikeThis moment. Also noteworthy is a scene where daughter Kylie calls via FaceTime from the dentist chair: “You look pretty!” the 17-year-old squeals. Kylie then visits Caitlyn and the two end up goofing off with Kylie’s signature teal hair extensions. It’s truly a sweet scene, with the two hugging it out and Kylie still referring to Caitlyn as her “dad.”

Caitlyn’s mother, Esther, isn’t so sure at first.
Caitlyn’s mother and sisters arrive at her Malibu home—it’s the first time they’re meeting Cait as a transgender woman. Jenner matriarch, Esther, is apprehensive about the idea at first: “It’s going to be so difficult to call you Caitlyn,” she says. Of course by the end of the episode, Esther warms up, and it’s all a fam jam in the house.

Sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do.
It’s undoubtedly been a buzzing few months for Caitlyn, with paparazzi in full force ready to descend like vultures. In order to get to places, she employs an interesting tactic: vehicle hopping. We see Cait evading ruthless photographers in a scene where she travels to San Diego to visit the family of a transgender teenage boy who took his life.

It’s not a show without a Kimye cameo.
The moment is inevitable: Kim and Kanye come around for a visit. Caitlyn’s sisters are intrigued at how Kanye’s unlaced sneakers are staying put on his feet. Kim is expecting another child and reveals that the skirt she’s wearing doesn’t zip up all the way. Kim is then taken to scope out the duds in Caitlyn’s walk-in. “Love this dress,” Caitlyn says, holding up a Tom Ford number. “Mom has that,” Kim responds, resulting in the duo laughing and joking about how this could turn into a ‘Who Wore It Best’ competition.’

I Am Cait premieres on Sunday, July 26 at 8 p.m. ET on E!
