Every great birthday party needs three things: photo booth by PartyPix, confetti and an amazing location. FASHION’s 40th Anniversary had it all — and a VR winking magazine cover.
The night started off with a VIP pre-party reception at Galerie de Bellefeuille, where Benjamin Shine’s tulle art piece—as seen on the cover of FASHION’s 40th Anniversary issue—was unveiled. The specially commissioned portrait was auctioned off, with the proceeds going toward the creation of a fund to support emerging fashion design talent at Ryerson University. There was champagne, a Chanel dress, and a selection of Toronto’s industry elite, including Tony & Lina Gagliano, Suzanne Cohon, David Drebin, Simona Shnaider, Bruce Croxon, Sarah Paterson, Catriona Smart, Barry Avrich, Glen Baxter, Alan Anderson, Catherine Nugent.
Then the big FASHION40 x Yorkville Village party kicked off. Over 300 guests were in attendance, enjoying canapés from Lindsey Shaw Catering sipping on Oyster Bay, Peroni, Eska Water, and FASHION40’s signature cocktails: the Watermelon Spritz (ft. Viritus Vodka) and the Sparkler (ft. Bloom Gin and Fentimans Rose Lemonade). Toronto DJ RALPH spun throwback dance tracks as well-dressed guests chatted and gazed in awe at the 15 foot posters of our November cover star, Amber Witcomb—and at 6-tier black and white Le Dolci cake inspired by the issue. Cake or larger-than-life cover, we’re still not sure which was more impressive.
