Kim Kardashian dressed up as Aaliyah
THE STORY: Kim Kardashian dressed up in a trio of costumes over Halloween weekend, with each playing homage to an iconic musician. She dressed up as Cher, Madonna, and as the beloved R&B singer, Aaliyah.
THE REACTION:
Legend or not Aaliyah is a black woman and you’re not. It’s offensive and you shouldn’t push this limit, but ok… ?

RIGHTEOUSNESS OF THE RAGE: Kim didn’t try to modify her skin tone to look more like Aaliyah. If she did, we’d be having a very different conversation. There isn’t a problem with Kim’s Aaliyah costume, but there is a problem with the Kardashian family appropriating (and profiting) off black culture. People who dislike Kim don’t want to see her dressed up as their favourite artist, and that’s fair. But the thing is: Kim is allowed to love Aaliyah too.

THE STORY: The Internet has discovered that if you type ‘brassiere’ in the search box of your iPhone, Apple photos will pull up images of your breasts.

If you go to your photos and type in the search box “Brassiere” your nudes will pop up. Wtf apple. ?

RIGHTEOUSNESS OF THE RAGE: Don’t worry guys, these NSFW photos aren’t being kept in a cloud, ready to be hacked. As Apple explains on its website, “When you search your photos, for instance, all the face recognition and scene and object detection are done completely on your device. Which means your photos are yours and yours alone.” It’s actually a pretty cool feature: if you search dog, Apple will remind you how many pics you’ve taken of puppers. (Try it.)

RIGHTEOUSNESS OF THE RAGE: If it looks like a hate crime and sounds like a hate crime, it’s probably a hate crime. The offending student has been punished academically and criminally for her vindictive actions: she’s been expelled from the University of Hartford, and charged with third-degree criminal mischief and second-degree breach of the peace. But, would justice have been served if not for the outcry on social media?

Donald Trump Jr. tweets about candy and socialism
THE STORY: Post trick-or-treating, Donald Trump Jr. tweeted a photo saying that he was going to give his daughter’s Halloween sweets to another child who sits at home because “it’s never too early to teach her about socialism.”

Walking door-to-door dressed up as 2-foot police officer asking for free lollipops is not work — it’s the best night of the year for most children. Second, who are these kids who just “sat at home,” and why does the presidents son find it amusing to mock them? Trick-or-treating is a privilege, and those who are unable to participate could be sick, disabled, or live in high-crime neighbourhoods. Besides, three-year-old Chloe probably doesn’t want to be a poster child for anti-sharing.
