Billy Porter, patron saint of the red carpet, is soon getting a new title: Fairy Godmother. The Emmy-, Tony- and Grammy-winner will be playing the iconic role in the upcoming live action remake of Cinderella. In an interview with CBS News, he said he would be playing the character as genderless, and that the film is going to be “a classic fairytale for a new generation” of kids that are “ready” for it. “It hit me when I was on the set last week, how profound it is that I am playing the Fairy Godmother — they call it the Fab G,” Porter said. “Magic has no gender.” Porter will star in the film alongside Camila Cabello, who plays Cinderella, and Pierce Brosnan, Minnie Driver, Missy Elliott, Idina Menzel, John Mulaney and James Corden. The film is slated for a February 2021 release.

Katy Perry dropped the music video for her new love ballad “Never Worn White” earlier this week, and revealed that she was pregnant with a closing shot of her baby bump. This is Perry’s first child with fiancé Orlando Bloom, whom she got engaged to in February 2019. In an interview with Sirius XM Hits 1, Perry said that while this song isn’t the lead single from her upcoming new album, they decided to release it first because “I was getting way too fat to hide it, so I was like, ‘Well, I think this song will be a great reveal!’”

Taylor Swift donated $1 million to Tennessee tornado relief
After a tornado barrelled through parts of Tennessee—including Nashville—earlier this week, Taylor Swift decided to make a generous contribution to aid relief efforts. 24 people have been killed, thousands are without power and there has been significant damage to land and property, reports BBC. “Nashville is my home and the fact that so many people have lost their homes and so much more in Middle Tennessee is devastating to me,” the singer wrote in an Instagram Story, adding that she had made a donation to the Middle Tennessee Emergency Response Fund. A spokesperson for Swift confirmed the donation, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
