Celeb Spy: Champagne wishes

Before heading to New York to reportedly marry Beyoncé, his girlfriend of six years, Jay-Z stopped by Lobby on Bloor Street in Toronto for what people were calling his bachelor party. Arriving after his Hogtown concert with Mary J. Blige, Jay-Z, a.k.a. Shawn Carter, was escorted in through the back door and held court with his mostly male entourage including Roots public relations guru Raymond Perkins.

The hot ticket in Calgary over Juno weekend was the Saturday night soiree for 2008 Walt Grealis Special Achievement Award winner, Moses Znaimer. The champagne-filled party was hosted by Zoomer mag editor Suzanne Boyd, who held court to some 200 people including Roots’ Raymond Perkins, singer Deborah Cox and fan choice award winner Michael Bublé, who hung out with his band for more than two hours.

Back in Toronto, the crew for the CBS pilot, Ny-Lon, were spotted shooting on Church Street, close to Adelaide. The show stars Canuck cutie Elisha Cuthbert and Johnny Whitworth of Empire Records fame (and a former beau of Liv Tyler).

As the weather heats up, Mel C. and Dexter’s Julie Benz are sure to be out and about when they hit town. Benz, who plays Dexter’s love interest on the hit TV show, will be here filming Saw V until the end of April and the former Spice Girl is in town on May 8th for a solo gig at the Phoenix Concert Theatre.
