Early Monday morning, Meghan Markle gave birth to the long-awaited Baby Sussex. And, as promised by Prince Harry in his giddy birth announcement outside the Windsor Castle stables, the trio made their family debut Wednesday morning, posing for the royal press with their brand new baby boy.
With perfectly manicured hands, Markle caressed her small son, who was wrapped up in a white embroidered blanket with a matching white knitted hat, both from G.H. Hurt & Sons. We imagine the angelic bundle smells of sweet milk and wide open meadows; Prince Harry wasn’t wrong when he said, “this little thing is absolutely to die for.”
“He has the sweetest temperament,” the Duchess of Sussex told reporters this morning at her son’s public debut. “He’s really calm. He’s just been the dream, so it’s been a special couple of days.”
Tilting Baby Sussex towards the photographers, Prince Harry added his own observation: “He’s already got a little bit of facial hair as well.”
A few hours later, The Duke and Duchess of Sussex shared a sweet gallery of photos to their new Instagram account, @sussexroyal. In just an hour, the post has over one million likes. Is the social media debut of little Baby Sussex on track to overthrow that pesky world_record_egg as Instagram’s most liked image? That shiny, smooth eggshell does share some visual qualities with the newborn royal’s perfect, poreless and glowing face.
Next on the day’s agenda: meet great-granny. “This afternoon Their Royal Highnesses introduced Her Majesty The Queen to her eighth great-grandchild at Windsor Castle,” the multi-generational family photo was captioned. “The Duke of Edinburgh and The Duchess’ mother were also present for this special occasion.”
The Sussexes used their second social media op of the day to reveal the royal baby’s name. World, meet Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor. Bookies suspected that a traditional family name was the most likely option for the child, with the names Arthur, James, and Alexander slotted as the most likely options. Meghan Markle and Prince Harry, however, have never been two people to follow palace tradition. Instead, they went for a name that pop culture closely associates with a comic book character famous for his ginger locks. Here’s hoping that, when it comes to hair, little Archie Harrison takes after his father!
