As has become the case with the great Hollywood’s Golden Boys Getting Hitched trend of 2014, first comes the announcement, then comes the double whammy bridal dress cover reveal. After pictures of George Clooney and Amal Alamuddin’s weekend wedding circulated the web, making even the most serious minded hearts flutter (“She’s a top barrister!” “He’s a legit do-gooder!”), People and Hello! have both released their upcoming magazine covers, featuring Alamuddin’s dress in all its glory.

While it was previously suspected that the 36-year-old barrister wed in a red Alexander McQueen gown, it’s come to all important light this morning that in fact she married in a custom Oscar de la Renta French lace gown, hand-embroidered with pearls and diamante stones. Despite its off-the-shoulder (tres trendy!) cut, the dress was quite traditional, featuring a full train and worn with a cathedral-length lace-edged veil. As for the groom, Clooney stuck to his favourite, Giorgio Armani, who created a made to measure black tuxedo complete with a bowtie and oxfords for the occasion. The actor wore cufflinks, a gift from his bride, engraved with “George” in Arabic.

And because no bride of Clooney should go without the Anna Wintour seal of approval, shots of Alamuddin’s final fitting with de la Renta will appear in the October issue of Vogue, shot by none other than Annie Leibovitz. The first shot (pictured above) was released via Instagram this morning.
