Princess Eugenie Took Style Cues From Meghan Markle at Her Star-Studded Royal Wedding

Here's what the newlywed and her celebrity guests wore

Much like her first cousins Princes William and Harry, Princess Eugenie’s relationship played out like a fairytale romance in the public eye. Eight years ago Queen Elizabeth’s sixth grandchild was introduced to Jack Brooksbank, a brand ambassador for tequila crafter Casamigos (founded by George Clooney) and began attending high-profile events with him just one year later.

Today, Princess Eugenie married long-term partner Brooksbank earlier today at St. George’s Chapel in Windsor Castle. The bride appeared to have taken style cues from her newly married sister-in-law Meghan Markle with simple, elegant Peter Pilotto gown that left her collarbones and part of her shoulders bare.

The design details Eugenie added to her dress were intended  to have a deeper meaning: the folded neckline displayed  a scar the Princess had from a corrective scoliosis surgery she had at the age of 12. (Eugenie is now a patron of the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital in London where she had her surgery as a child and representatives from the charity were invited to stand inside the grounds of Windsor Castle during the ceremony.) In addition, the gown which was stitched with meaningful symbol including a Thistle to represent Scotland, a shamrock for Ireland, the York Rose for England and an ivy representing the couple’s home.

Perhaps most notably, Princess Eugenie bucked Royal tradition by not wearing a royal veil. Rather, she wore the Greville Emerald Kokoshnik Tiara, which was lent to her by the Queen.

The ninth in line to the throne was watched by her grandmother, the Queen, and Prince Philip, among other friends and family except the Duchess of Cornwall and Rothesay Camilla Parker Bowles on speculation of tension between herself and Eugenie’s parents, Prince Andrew and ex-wife Sarah Ferguson. The 850 other guests included celebrities such as Cara Delevingne, Demi Moore, Liv Tyler and Naomi Campbell.

We couldn’t forget about the ever-stylish Countess of Strathearn Kate Middleton either. We’re still keeping track of every single one of her effortlessly flawless looks and you can see what she wore to the second royal wedding this year here.
