What. Did. We. Just. Watch?

Halloween might have come and gone for another year, but there are a few talking points related to the annual event that we’re still discussing today. The celebrity costumes, of course, and Instagram fiend Courteney Cox’s most recent video.

We suspect Cox might have brought a little April Fool’s Day fun to Halloween 2019 – at least we’re seriously hoping that’s the case – with a video she shared on Instagram last night.

In the clip, the Friends star can be seen lounging on her couch as she addresses the camera telling her 5.6 million followers, “It’s Halloween and I thought that I’d get into the spirit of things and watch some of the Scream movies. I chose Scream 3. I notice that Gale Weathers has those infamous bangs. I don’t think there’s anything wrong with that.”

The camera then pans to the actress’ TV screen to show a younger Cox as Weathers in the film with said bangs. Present day Cox then addresses the camera a second time saying, “I think they look cool. I say bring them back.” Then, like a wild woman with no cares in the world, she whips out a pair of kitchen scissors and starts hacking into her hair. Honestly, it’s the scariest thing I’ve watched in a while.

Cox then asks, “What do you think?" as Ghostface, the famed killer from the Scream franchise, pops up in the background.

Watch it for yourself below:

In all likelihood, Cox cut a wig and not her own hair. But the similarities between it and her natural hair are so striking that it definitely had us going for a hot minute. The actress is yet to share a photo of herself today, letting the mystery hang just a little bit longer, too.

Regardless, there is officially nothing scarier than DIY bangs.
