For their latest soap opera-inspired “Cleanse Like a Derm” campaign, CeraVe is bringing all the drama. Aiming to educate their customers about proper cleansing habits, the brand has cast Xochitl Gomez as their leading lady in this nostalgic short film directed by Milana Vayntrub. The 18-year-old Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness actress stars alongside board-certified dermatologist and influencer Dr. Dustin Portela to help debunk common cleansing misconceptions with one main message: “Soap operas are dramatic, cleansing doesn’t have to be.”

“As a kid growing up, I always watched telenovelas — especially because my nannies watched them. So when I got the concept for this campaign, I was immediately like, ‘I really want to do this,’" Gomez tells FASHION. “I got to put a lot of creative energy into it and it was fun leaning into the drama of bad skin and bad cleansing habits because it truly is a serious matter.” Developed by dermatologists and formulated with three essential ceramides to help restore the skin barrier, it’s CeraVe’s Hydrating Facial Cleanser that steals the show — and it’s also Gomez’s favourite.

“This one’s my favourite because I love to exfoliate,” says Gomez. “You know when you feel dryness after exfoliating? This cleanser does not make your skin feel dry, and that was really important to me.” The key to avoiding that tight, dry feeling? The cleanser’s hyaluronic acid ingredient — which purifies and replenishes the skin without stripping it down.

As an actress who spends hours on set wearing layers upon layers of makeup, Gomez understands the importance of maintaining a good skincare routine. In addition to regular facials and exfoliation, she keeps her skin clean and clear by communicating with her makeup artists. “One thing I love to do, especially for long runs like a movie or TV show, is make sure I have a talk with whichever artist is going to be applying my makeup beforehand so that we know what actually works with my skin,” she explains. “And also that I take my makeup off as soon as possible,” she adds.

No questionable skincare practices here! Gomez knows how to cleanse like a derm.

Listen, it’s summertime, it’s hot outside, and you deserve a cool, sweet treat. Better yet, one with skincare benefits that work from the inside out. From July 11 to August 11, Torontonians can pop by any of Nutbar’s four locations (Summerhill, Leslieville, Adelaide or Ossington) to purchase a refreshing superfood freezie made in collaboration with Nudestix.

Inspired by the beauty brand’s Lemon-Aid Detox & Glow Miro-Peel, the “Skin Renewal Freezie” is a frozen version of last summer’s Skin Renewal Smoothie collab, which gets the skin glowing from within thanks to its fresh and organic ingredients.  Also joining the lineup, the idea for the “Strawberry Sunburst Freezie” came from the iconic red "Poppy Girl" and "Hot Fire" Nudestix blushes.

Plus, as an extra little treat, each purchase of a freezie comes with a 20 per cent off coupon for Nudestix.ca. Happy shopping!
