Toronto Parks Will Now Be Offering Free Sunscreen

Get ready to demote Drake to your second favourite thing about Toronto. This summer, the city has partnered with the David Cornfield Melanoma Fund to install free sunscreen dispensers in five waterfront parks around the city: Kew Gardens Park, Sherbourne Common (south), Harbour Square Park, HTO park (east) and Little Norway Park.

If the initiative proves to be successful, it will expand to other parks in the city next summer. Each dispenser will be stocked with Health Canada-approved, SPF 30 sunscreen.

Skin cancer is the most common cancer in Canada, and is unfortunately the fastest rising cancer, too. “Fortunately, skin cancer is largely preventable, by protecting your skin from the sun with shade, long clothing, hats, sunglasses and sunscreen,” Danielle Paterson, executive director of the David Cornfield Melanoma Fund.

We love you, Toronto.
